This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This page details pre-release information and/or media for WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition.

Thanks to the highly documented nature of WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition 's development, there are a lot of goodies to be found.

To do:
Search through the hundreds of devblogs on the Official YouTube Channel and the WolfQuest Community Fourms for more early differences (more footage of the early hunger system / wolf badge, map changes, interfaces, etc. Reword some of these as to not be too repetitive.

Development Timeline

December#

2017#

February#

  • February 2nd - WolfQuest's 3rd episode was announced to take place in Tower Fall.2

May#

  • May 11th - It is announced on the WolfQuest Fourms that WolfQuest Episode 3 would use an entirely new codebase.3

June#

To do:
Find an archive of the associated website devblogs, as most of these early videos were only meant to add onto them, unlike today where they are now the primary source of information

  • June 2rd - A new video devblog titled "These elk are making me thirsty!" showcases the ability to drink water, coming to WolfQuest 3.4
  • June 3rd - Yesterdays devblog was reuploaded to the WolfQuest YouTube Channel, renamed to "By Popular Demand...Hydration!"5
  • June 9th - "New Menu Item: Mule Deer!" announces mule deer are coming to WolfQuest 3.6
  • June 16th - "Summertime Snack" was released, announcing mule deer fawns.7
  • June 23rd - "Howling at Tower Fall" is released, promoting the Tower Fall episode of WolfQuest 3, which is slated for early 2018.

To do:
Explain differences in a better way, find a spot that shows the rainbow in its final position while still showing the majority of Tower Fall

The terrain is noticeably lower quality in the final version. The terrain is less open. Most trees from the devblog are either moved or missing. The water is noticeably less vibrant. The rainbow spawns much higher than the final game. This video uses the old wolf model from WolfQuest 2.7

2018#

February#

  • February 15th - A poll was held on the WolfQuest Community Fourms to decide which animal gets added to the game.10 Despite bighorn sheep winning the vote, we'd get pronghorn first.11

March#

  • March 22nd - "Hungry (Sometimes) Like the Wolf" was released showcasing a new "energy" system that is not present in the final, which was replaced with the Stamina, Hunger, and Wakefulness meters.

To do:
Explain this better

  • The energy bar was a system meant to be more realistic system, where your energy cap would lower when digesting food, and rise again when it's time to eat.
    • The energy bar is drained in the same ways the stamina bar is in the final game.
    • The energy cap lowered while digesting food to a much greater degree than the stamina bar is in the final game.
