Any sort of development timeline. This should help.

"I’ve already been working on it for about two weeks. I think maybe it’ll take another two, but hopefully not much longer."

Removed Easter Egg#

Watch on YouTubeOne track from PPPPPP (the official VVVVVV soundtrack), "Phear", is not in the final game whatsoever. It was included with the full album on Souleye's website but excluded from most other releases.

On January 14th, 2010, days after the game's launch, Souleye stated in response to a fan question that the track "may or may not be in the game", then explained that he "can't give a real answer at this moment".

On March 4, Terry Cavanagh elaborated on the track's intended purpose.

"This was for a planned easter egg that got left out in the last minute rush to finish up the game :(

There's one particular room in the overworld with a structure that's not connected to anything, and what was supposed to happen if you waited there for a few seconds was that the whole world would flip vertically and that sound effect would play. Instead, I just added Flip Mode as a new game option!"

Though Terry didn't provide any further detail, we can make an educated guess as to where this event would've taken place. Looking at a map of the overworld, there are only two structures that seem to match his description (i.e. not joined with the walls or linked via background "connector" tiles). One is a set of four arrows and a teleporter near the bottom right corner of the map, which probably isn't related to the secret.

The most elusive trinket?

The other is a circular, trinket-like structure one room up and to the left of the entrance to The Tower. In the final game, this serves no gameplay or story purpose. However, there's another clue that indicates the event would've happened here: the structure is vertically symmetrical.
