- LUKE is positioned to the side of the live number count, and there is no portrait. The number of lives are white rather than green.
- The score was centered under the header, and the colors of both were changed.
- Time was moved up to the top of the screen, and the color of the numerals was also changed.
- The BLASTER text in the HUD has been partially overwritten by what look to be debug coordinates.
- The lifebar lightsaber is extremely long but seems to be lacking any life, likely a result of a debug mode. The design of the handle is simpler.
- The background mountains and clouds are different.

Electronic Gaming Monthly Issue 37 (August 1992)#
A level based on the movie's trash compactor scene was present at one point in development. Also note the level number in the top right. No level indicator is present in the final game. The debug numbers from the earlier preview are still present, although they no longer overlap with the weapon name, which is not present at all. The score is aligned differently, with the last numeral lining up with the colon of SCORE:.

What seems to be an early version of the Tractor Beam stage. The design of the rising platform is completely different, as is the center column of the background.
Despite what the the preview's commentary implies, there is no way to fall directly to death in this stage in the final game.

The Hover Combat Carrier boss fight is spawned further to the left in the preview. Spawning the boss further to the right in the final locks the screen, preventing the player from going back to this left area during the fight. The decorative boxes were removed from the floor for the final.

Black Outlines#
The characters initially had black outlines, but this was scrapped due to them looking too "cartoony" as a result.

Scrapped Idle Animation#
At one point, Luke had an idle animation where he would deflect laser shots from floating objects, a reference to his early Jedi training in the movie. Memory limitations kept it from being used.
