PSWorld Volume 33 Footage#
|
|
This page or section needs more images. |
Early footage of the game from the PSWorld Volume 33 disc. Depicting a fairly early version of the game feautring lots of placeholders/leftovers from the first game! It should be worth noting that Ratchet has access to weapons (and Clank on Aranos) at points in the game not normally accessible and was likely done for testing purposes.
- The HUD is mostly reused from the first game as a placeholder. Such as the health bar, bolt count and the Quick Select ring.
- An early experience bar for the health is present and appears to be the only RPG element implemented at this point in development.
- The Quick Select ring does not pause as it does in the first game. An option in the final release was added to toggle the pause on or off.
- All the weapon icons are either reused from the first game or are new but curiously are in the original's icon style.
- The Lancer and Blitz Gun's icon were also redone completely in the final game.
- At 0:13, the unused placeholder icon from the original is seen being used as an icon for an unknown weapon/gadget.
- Curiously, weapons in this build seem to lack an experience bar or any form of upgrades at this point. They likely not were not implemented at this point in development.
- The Blitz Gun's blast was completely different and is similar to the explosion effects seen in the first game (such as the Bomb Glove).
- The bolt and ammo crates from the first game are present, which were retextured in the final game.
- At 2:24, the Jamming Array jump pad's visual effect emitted holo rings which were changed to particles in the final version.
- At 2:51, the normal taxi (still seen in Planet Dobbo and Planet Joba in the final game) is present instead of the limo on the Jamming Array.
