Seen on page 280 of the April 1987 issue of LOGiN magazine, it's possible to see two images of a pre-release version of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!

Glass Joe#

Prerelease	Prototype	Final

• Glass Joe has the same color palette and ranking information seen in the prototype! However, his hair doesn't have as many details here.
• The numbers have a simpler appearance.
• The graphics on Little Mac's face are slightly different.

Boxing Ring#

• Glass Joe's hair, just like on the ranking screen, is brown! Also, the top of his head is drawn differently.
• As mentioned above, the numbers are different and simpler-looking.

EGM 1989 Buyers Guide#

Seen on page 65 of the 1989 Electronic Gaming Monthly Issue 000, it's possible to find a single image of an early version of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!

Boxing Ring#

Prerelease	Final

• Glass Joe is the same one seen in the LOGiN magazine. His hair is brown and his head sprite is slightly different.
• Mario and Little Mac is on the left side of the screen, though it's unknown if its actual gameplay or a technical glitch.
• The player starts with 50 hearts instead of 20.

TV Commercial#

The North American TV commercial features several differences from the final game.

• The title screen lacks the "Mike Tyson's" text
• Mr. Sandman has green shorts like in the prototype.
• The 9 boxers in the credits are presented in a different order. King Hippo is shown sooner and Don Flamenco is shown later.
