Marvel Super Hero Squad Online

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This page details pre-release information and/or media for Marvel Super Hero Squad Online.

This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?

To do:

  • Document tons and tons of concept art, and this means like, huge amounts.
  • Document locations in Comic-Con 2010 trailer, and the 2010 "walkthrough" video.
  • Document pre-open beta press releases, interviews, and screenshots. This page is lots of work, with the sheer amount of surface-level prerelease material.
  • Have the prerelease footage be embedded normally, instead of being links to the Internet Archive.
  • Comparison screenshots.

Trailers#

Comic-Con 2010#

https://youtu.be/53nUGOD6iaU A trailer of the game exists from 2010's Comic-con, showing off a little of the hub world, including several buildings that got reused in the final game, but also the Oscorp Building, which was never included in Super Hero Squad Online when the Hub World was divided into (at that point) three hub zones. It also shows a pool-esque location with the Prize Wheel in the middle, which would be located on a different spot in the final game. The Prize Wheel has a wildly different design. It shows off the heroes that were available at that time. The entrance of the Daily Bugle does not have the Dance Floor. Headquarters already existed at that point.

Jason Robar's Walkthrough Video#

https://archive.org/embed/g4tv.com-video48927-flvhd In a video made for G4, Jason Robar (co-founder of The Amazing Society) shows off a build of the game, 16 months into development. He shows off some of the things you can do in the game, such as the Card Game, Missions, and Headquarters. This takes place in the old hub world.

  • The GUI is very different for the Card Game, Mission Select, HQ, Hero Select - a lot of it was heavily more different.
  • The HP bar is also different, as are the models for the power-ups, "action spots"(spots you could click on to fly, ride a vehicle, wall climb, etc.), and enemy selection.
  • The location for the Hero Up! button is on the character icon, instead of near the middle left.
  • The link mentioned at the end of the video is dead and redirects to a Bitcoin scam or other forms of internet scams. Do not follow this link unless you are using the Wayback Machine.
