Development Timeline#

Pre-Launch

October 22: Masahiro Sakurai publishes Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games: Finale Special on both his English and Japanese YouTube Channels. While also concluded publishing any further videos for both channels (minus compilations).¹ ² And at the same time teases Air riders.

April 2: Nintendo Direct - the game was revealed to the public with Masahiro Sakurai returning as the Director for the game.
August 19: The first Kirby Air Riders Direct was released on Nintendo's YouTube Channel.
September 19: Nintendo Direct - Two amiibo's based on Kirby on the Warp Star and Bandana Waddle Dee on the Winged Star have been revealed.
November 7: Kirby Air Riders: Global Test Ride Demo is released.
October 23: The second Kirby Air Riders Direct was released on Nintendo's YouTube Channel.
November 8-9: The First Weekend of the Global Test Ride was released.
November 13: The Overview Trailer for the game is released on Nintendo's YouTube Channel.³
November 15-16: The Second Weekend of the Global Test Ride was released.
November 20: The game is released. On the same day, Kirby on the Warp Star and Bandana Waddle Dee on the Winged Star Amiibo's have been released.

Post-Launch

November 27-30: The Everyone, to the Stadium! launches as the first event for the game.
December 5-8: The Team Battle Tussle! Event launches for the game.
December 18: The Race to the Finish! launches as an event, but ultimately got cancelled a few hours in after starting for the game.
December 24-29: Everyone, to the Stadium! Event launches a second time for the game.

January 7-12: The High-Speed Top Ride! Event launches for the game.
January 28-February 2: The Soaring to the Top! launches as an event for the game.
February 12-17: The 3-on-3 Showdown! Event launches for the game.
March 4-9: The Shadow Star's Revenge Event launches for the game.
