This page details pre-release information and/or media for JumpStart Animal Adventures.
Early Map Screen#
The game's digital manual contains an image of the map screen that includes the scrapped desert location, represented by a camel icon in northern Africa. Some of the other icons were also moved a bit, but stayed in roughly the same places in the final release.
Scrapped Models#
One of the game's artists, Paul Downs, posted five images to his personal website of some of the animals he has worked on for the game, including a hammerhead shark model that was scrapped from the final game. This could have been used for the tide pool area, but was likely scrapped in favor of the sculpin seen in the final game as real life hammerhead sharks would be too big to fit in tide pools.
Two other scrapped models seen on Downs' website include an ostrich model, meant for the scrapped desert area, and a scrapped elephant model, likely meant for the savannah area before it was decided the elephants would be 2D sprites.
