Early Character Designs#
Nepgear/Purple Sister#
- Her original design would've had two hair clips at the left, a medium-length hairstyle with the end of her hair being flipped up, a school sweater underneath her school uniform, vertically-striped leggings, and modified school shoes. Her original HDD design would be a white with black accents two-piece jumpsuit, arm garnets with a triangle button pattern, and robot ears.
- Her hair clips in her second design were shaped like play buttons and were colored black. Her school uniform had shorter sleeves, had a black neckline underneath it, and wore black leggings.
- Her fourth and pre-final designs had a HUB cable-styled bow sticking at the back. The former design also depicted her wearing a black version of her outfit.

Rom and Ram/White Sisters#

They were originally a lot more identical in their original designs, with both of them having the same hairstyle (a single ponytail on each side), hair color (pink instead of light brown), outfits (which were more stylized and Victorian-like than the standard winter outfits), and their eye colors were different on each side (blue and red). Their pre-final design had them wearing white Victorian-like school clothes with blue and pink accents, and their hair lengths were swapped around, with Rom having long hair and Ram having short hair.

Their first designs were much younger and completely inseparable in design; they wore rompers with two pink squares (representing the DS screens), they were depicted with pink eyes, light pink side ponytails, and had robot ears as headgears. Their later designs were much closer to their final look, but they had different hair colors (blonde, white pink, white with blue gradients), heterochromia eyes, robot-styled headgears, and a slightly bigger bust. Also, they were supposed to have a "charge up" power skill where one of the sisters kisses the other on the cheek.

Histoire#

Early concept sketches of Histoire's Hyper Dimension redesign. Her first draft had her in a librarian-like uniform, her second draft in nighttime clothes, and her third draft without the yellow accents, white gloves, no headgear, and robot ears. Her pre-final design also had two laces behind in her dress that were ditched in her final look.

Kei Jinguji#

She was more boyish looking, wore pants and a shrug, and was supposed to be around Vert's height (5'4"/163cm) instead of IF's (4'11"/150cm). She also had brown eyes, darker hair (with one depicting her with light brown hair), and no blue accents.

Mina Nishizawa#

Her initial design choices would be that of a maid (a role previously adopted by Financier of the first game) or a princess (a reference to Princess Peach from the Super Mario Bros. series), before settling on an appearance of a teacher to her younglings. She also had shorter hair styled like a bob, while an early version of her main outfit would’ve been white with red and yellow accents.

Chika Hakozaki#

She underwent the most drastic designs. Her first design depicted her as a delicately ill girl in a white dress, with her short, pale green hair and a pink vest underneath said dress. Her other designs included a nun's outfit, a bespectacled military outfit (with this version having green eyes), a more casual outfit, and a more princess-y outfit. Her first, second, and third designs also appear to be much shyer compared to the other and final drafts, which depicted her with a more bombastic personality.

Cave#

Her pigtails were longer and curly at the ends, she didn't have short sleeves, and her attire was supposed to be black with white, yellow and red accents, as opposed to white with red, yellow and black accents, as well as her skirt being even more revealing. She also had a different hair color, purple instead of red, in her fourth and fifth designs. Her third design also depicted her with a more cheerful expression, indicating that she was originally portrayed as a joyous character.

Falcom#

Her design alterations between her initial draft and her final draft are minimal, but still had some slight differences: she originally wore a ponytail, she didn't have hair intakes, her chest plate as well as tank top was originally a romper, she had a different headgear, she wore shorts, and her pre-final draft lacked the thigh-high socks, instead going for a belt buckle at the right of her thigh.

First-Gen Compa#

This early version of First-Gen Compa would've had brown hair instead of the blonde hair in the final game. Other than that, her design remains unchanged.

She originally had pale skin in her first design, she had shorter hair and demon horns in her second design, and her outfit, while not conservative, did cover a few sections of her skin. Her hair color was originally red instead of magenta, and in her first design, she had a black version of the CPUs power symbol.
Unused human design#

An unused pre-transformation self of Magic. In this design, she wore a gothic lolita outfit with her hair flowing down. She, however, still retains her main form's pointy ears.

Unused#
Characters and character designs that have never made it past the drawing board.
Red and Yellow CPU Candidates#
The original heroines of mk2, before being replaced by Nepgear. It's unknown which handheld consoles they represent, though the Yellow CPU Candidate's design may indicate she was going to represent the Game Boy.
- The Red one has long light red hair, purple eyes, robot ears, and an arm garnet. She is shown with a smile on her face, indicating she was supposed to be a friendly and joyous character.
- The Yellow one has short yellow hair, orange with yellow gradient eyes, and a yellow jumpsuit with a black screen on her chest. She is shown with a poker face, indicating she was supposed to be a stoic character.

Noire redesign#

An unused redesign for the Hyper Dimenson version of Noire from the first game, which would've been a modified version of her original design.
- The first design choice would be identical to her Black dress, but without the red accents, her outfit being darker, the red layer of her dress being blue, her neckline not being curved to her cleavage, and the emblem at her bow having only a yellow outline.
- Her second design choice would include a shrug, buttons on her now-curved neckline, her corset not having ribbon ties, and her skirt having black frills. Furthermore, neither of her design choices had the bow on the back.
It's unknown why these design choices were discarded in the final release, though it's possible it was rejected to retain consistency with Blanc and Vert, who never had such redesigns.

CPU Compa#

A sketch of what would have been the HDD form of Maker Compa, with her form name called Compile Heart, a reference to her namesake company.
(Source: Hyperdimension Neptunia + mk2 Art Book)
Young CPUs#

Young versions of Black Heart and Purple Heart. Both CPUs wore conservative versions of their main attire, had detached sleeves as well as bigger gloves, Young!Purple had shorts, and Young!Black had pigtails tied to her ribbons like her normal self.

Unused Weapon#
Mouse Gun(t)#

An unused pistol shaped like a mouse. Its features are similar to that of Warechu's, right down to his broken heart insignia. The nose would've been designed like a projectile, with the gun shooting lasers out of its projectile. It's unknown why this was cut, nor is it clear if it was intended as an equippable weapon or a weapon used exclusively for the villains.

Early Special Moves#
The CPU Candidates have different animations for one of their special moves, shown in the weekly Dengeki PlayStation magazine.

Early Cutscene#
Black Sister's model is less detailed in the pre-release. It's unknown if this scene made it to the final game.
