Hecatomb#

According to John Romero, the third game of the Serpent Riders trilogy was planned to be called "Hecatomb" but due to Romero leaving id after the release of Quake this wasn't to be. Activision later convinced Raven that Heretic and Hexen could be treated as separate franchises, Leding to the creation of Hexen II and Heretic II.

Ultimately, only a few select ideas from Romero made their way into these games.1
