This page details pre-release information and/or media for Guitar Hero: World Tour (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows, Mac OS X).

This needs some investigation. |
Pre-Mid-2008#
A very early screenshot used on the Wikipedia article, of all places.
This image contains several differences:
- The header font uses an even earlier version than the below screenshots.

Final |

|
- The career earnings display is radically different from the final, and notably isn't aligned to the graphic; also, "Available" is misspelled.

And a Create-A-Rocker image that uses the same earnings display:
In all these, each selectable option is written so that only the first letter is capitalized; in the final, they are in all caps.
June 2008#
From Game Informer Issue 182.
- The front page of the article includes a unique logo for "Guitar Hero 4", despite the article also referring to the game as World Tour.
- The helper pills on the bottom of the screen use a different design. The option for going back a menu also says "Done" instead of "Back".

Create-A-Rocker#
- The heading font in the Create-A-Rocker menu uses a unique font which is seen nowhere in the final.
- Header text is aligned to the bottom-right, whereas it is centered in the final.
- The curtain in the background is slightly different.
- The rotate and zoom functionality of the final seems to be absent. If not, the helper pills do not indicate it.
- Your character's hair is not removed when entering any of the Head sub-menus.
- "Current Design" has a different icon from what is used in the final game:

- The face paint menu has a "Load Guitar Hero Design" option, which is not used in the final. Its icon, however, is included in the files:
- "Body Art" is now called simply "Tattoos" in the final. Option names have also been changed.
- The S on "Eyes Makeup" has been removed.

Logo Creator#
The menu for creating logos varies the most from the final, including a small color wheel and very non-intuitive slider bars:
Music Studio#
The Music Studio resembles the final but differs slightly in some images:
- GHMix is mostly similar, but has different icons and there was no keyboard chart lane yet.
- On the Music Studio, there are blue skull ribbons decorating each instrument's sign. These are entirely absent from the final, with their only replacement being an icon of a red horned skull off to the left corner of these signs. Also, the current effect appears on a separate sign at the top portion of the screen; in the final, it is below the instrument's name.
- The menus aren't much different in function, only cleaned up and adjusted to the UI's format.

October 2008 (Press Kit)#
The press kit for Guitar Hero: World Tour contains a single pre-final image.
- Menu items use a mix of uppercase and lowercase text. In the final, only uppercase is used.
- The unique header font from before is used, but is more left-aligned.
- "Restore Defaults" has been shortened to just "Default".
