The official page for Final Lap 2000 on the official WonderSwan website has a gif which contains five prerelease images of the game:

The first image shows an early version of the build-up to the title screen, which shows that the final version is an poorly edited version of the prerelease background with an extra car being crashed into. The registered trademark symbol is also missing, and the logo is higher up than in the final.

The second image shows the win screen after the England race track:
- The font for "WINNER" is different,
- It says "ENGLAND GP" instead of just "ENGLAND,"
- The prerelease says Player 1,
- There is no time on the total time and fastest lap times, meaning it is likely the prerelease image was taking using debug settings,
- The "1" has a different design and there are no gaps in the black rectangle,
- There is no letter in the ranking name.

The third image shows the start of a race on the England track except... wait, that looks nothing like England! No city skyline, no starting banner thing... It's unrecognisable apart from the minimap! It looks closer to the final version of Belgium, though it's still not exact. Also, the high and low gear graphics are different, and it says 1/2 players, despite there being more than two cars on the road.

The fourth image shows the screen before the course select screen, and there are still a few differences:
- There is no background,
- It uses an image of a different woman,
- The rectangle at the bottom looks more like rusting metal, whereas the final is one sleek texture.

The fifth and final image shows the course select screen, which also has a few differences:
- The world map background was crudely drawn originally, before it was redrawn much more faithfully in the final,
- "COURSE SELECT" uses a different font to the final,
- The font for each track name is different,
- "SINGLE PLAY" and the menu tracker are nowhere to be seen,
- The track known as Italy 1 in the final is referred to as "San Marino" in the prerelease version,
- The track known as Spain is present on the first menu, but in the final game it is on the third menu, and it's spot on the first menu was taken by Brazil instead.
