MARV#

More hardpoints#

Early designs played with the idea of having six hardpoints (or maybe three pairs, like the Hexapod).

Rotating Gun#

The triple guns were supposed to rotate after shooting, like a gatling gun.

Eradicator Hexapod#

Among the Kane's Wrath images is this collection of concepts:

Among them, there is this Hexapod design:

One of BreakAway Games artists, Todd Kale has different version of this design on his ArtStation account:

It's referred to as "Concept Art for proposed game" and the cityscape doesn't really fit the Tiberium universe, but whatever it is, it matches the small concept. Thankfully, they went with a less horrifying design.

Hammerhead#

Rocket Pods#

The Hammerhead has two rocket pods below its wings, they can also be seen in the loading screens and IDB image (and early screenshots):

As there is no visible container for the infantry inside the Hammerhead, it feels like the rocket pods were simply replaced by the transport ability.

Bombs#

This early screenshot shows something even more interesting:

Each Hammerhead seems to have 4 bombs at the end of each wing in addition to the guns and missile pods. Sadly, there are no other leftovers aside from these images.

However, one of the early Kane's Wrath images also hints at them:

The large Hammerhead clearly has bombs (rockets?) under its wings tips:

Early Screenshots show the Hammerhead with a pristine, unweathered texture:

There is also a old logo on the side of the Hammerhead (and a regular GDI logo on the tail):

The final texture is missing the logo (it is still on the damaged texture though). However, the art pack contains a nearly final version of the texture that still has this logo.

It seems to be somewhat similar in concept to the flag on the Pitbull, but I have no idea what it is supposed to mean:

Specter#

Early concepts show the tracks were split into two parts and attached to the legs:

In the final game, the tracks are not split and independent from the legs.

Note that the bright red cockpit in the earlier image looks a bit like the style that ended up used in TT:

Mantis#

The design for the Mantis was not decided until the end of development - community members that got to play the Kane's Wrath beta reported that the Black Hand had a unit with a Stealth Tank model that lacked stealth, could only attack air and was called "Tank Tank". Funnily, Tiberian Twilight contains a file of a robot voice saying "Tank Tank" named NUMantis_voiSelecta, proving this story true.

The lack of an idea for this unit is also the reason it has robotic sounds despite the Black Hand hating machines - it was likely too late in development to record and localize unit voices, so they went with sounds instead. This is likely also the reason why this unit lacks an IDB entry - the decision was simply made too late to write and translate it.

Redeemer#

The left arm of the Redeemer has a claw, similar to the Avatar. But while the Avatar can grab enemies to steal weapons, the claw on the Redeemer is completely unused outside of animations. Concept art hints that the arms might have held additional hardpoints, though that would still render the claw useless.

Mind Control#

In one image, the Rage Generator is called Mind Control Dome, but it's unclear if there were any plans for mind control or if the artist simply named it odd.

Reclamator Hub#

The concept art mentions the building functions as an assembly center "as well as a Tiberium elimination center". I have no idea what that was supposed to mean, but you can clearly see storage tanks with a green marking and green smoke coming from the building in the final release, so there is still something Tiberium related going on. This was likely connected to the MARVs harvest ability, though it is unknown if it was intended to have any effect in gameplay or just for looks.

Titan and Wolverine#

Watch on YouTubeThe Wolverine was also featured in multiple early (internal) C&C Arena artworks and TT still contains an icon for a version with an earlier/simpler texture. As TT seems to be an evolution of the canceled C&C Arena, it is possible that the Titan and Wolverine models were initially made for this game and reused for Kane's Wrath.

This is also hinted at by the high poly models that were shown before Kane's Wrath's release - they were completely unused in Kane's Wrath, but are visible in motion in the C&C Arena trailer:

(Source: Command & Conquer Arena Trailer (canceled))

The released TT xml files actually confirm that these existed at some point in TT/Arena:

<!-- GDI Infantry B / Wolverine -->
<!-- GDI TITAN VEHICLE F VEHICLEF -->
<!-- this version of the Titan is cut methinx, hook to GDI vehicle AE then cut -->

Shatterer#

This early image shows a GDI base and some Kane's Wrath units, but is clearly lacking the Shatter.

This is odd, as the Shatter texture is used as an example for good and bad spec maps in the Tiberium Wars Mod SDK (yes, they really used a texture from a unit that was not even announced at that point):

Oddly, it's noticeably different from the textures used in Kane's Wrath

Early screenshots also show very different house color locations that seems to match the "bad" example from the SDK files above:

Slingshot#

The initial Slingshot model seems to have had smaller guns as seen by this image:

Prerelease

Final

Kinda looks like the guns were initially mounted on one single metal plate instead of two angled plates and they look completely grey in the initial image, possibly untextured (model also seems to be missing a normal map). Still, I would prefer it over the final image as that one was just taken from a promotional render and imho doesn't fit the other icons.
