This page details pre-release information and/or media for Cel Damage.

To do:
A prototype of a cancelled game named "GangBusters" was discovered. Left in the files is a lot of Cel Damage stuff, including never before seen concepts. Try to document those.

Early Development#

  • The game started development around 1999 to 2000 as a kart-racer, with the working title of Cartoon Mayhem.1
  • According to the concept art slideshow in the credits, many of the characters went through several changes, including design, species, and gender. The most notable and drastic ones are shown below.

Early Trailer#

  • There is no HUD.
  • The skybox in Death Valley has a black area in it.
  • The weapon boxes in Death Valley look vastly different to how they do in the final.
  • Brian has red arms instead of purple.
  • The ring of Saturn in Shooting Stars is yellow instead of purple.
  • The sound that plays when using the wood chipper is different from the final.
  • The wood chipper sucks in both the car and driver. In the final, it only sucks in the car, flinging the driver out of their car and left running.
  • Temple of Boom has a path of dry land, rather than an elevated path of land submerged underwater.
  • The skybox in Monster Mosh is brighter.
  • The cobwebs in Monster Mosh are black.
  • A cartoon wobbling sound is heard when drivers get sliced with the sawblade.
