Consumer Software Group TV-GAME COLLECTION '91 Autumn-Winter#

Watch on YouTubeAt 32:54 in the embedded CSG video is a trailer for Bananan Ouji no Daibouken.

With the exception of Level 1-1, none of the stages in the preview match up with the layouts in the final game.

Prerelease

Final

  • Animated clouds were added to the top of the title screen.
  • START and PASS (for Password) were added above the doors. The doors are a darker purple color.
  • The Banana Prince was added as the cursor.
  • The circles in the ground were changed from brown to blue.
  • The Hud with copyright information was added to the bottom of the screen.

Prerelease

Final

  • The bottom left world, World 5, was moved down and to the right.

Prerelease

Final

  • The background is different.
  • The enemies are different. Neither of these enemies show up anywhere in Level 1-1.
  • The rings have different graphics, with smaller bands and bigger gems.
  • The timer in the HUD displays 000 time throughout the footage, likely a result of using Debug mode.
  • The banana icons used for health in the HUD are rougher looking in the prerelease.
  • A different, thinner font is used for the numbers in the HUD.
  • Most notably, the animated images of you and your friends in the right side of the HUD are completely absent! In their place is... nothing.
  • The green structure is not used in any stage in the final game.
  • The enemies are not used in any stage in World 1.

Prerelease

Final

  • The dancing dandelions and grass are motionless in the trailer.
  • None of the enemies are used in any stage in World 2.

Prerelease

Final

  • The most significantly different stage in the trailer. While World 3 features conveyor belts and pink bubbling liquid, every other aspect of the stage design is completely different. Metal plate walls and metallic structures were replaced with brickwork and cogs. Oddly, the final stage is set in a tomato factory, which would seem to fit better with the original design.
  • The conveyor belt uses a pair of opposite directions back to back. This was not present in the final.

Prerelease

Final

  • Again, the corn enemies are not found in 1-1 in the final game.
  • There is one less ring in the prerelease.
  • Oddly, the enemies do not react at all to the projectile attack, despite dying in one hit in the final.
