Concept Art#

Stella#

Various sketches of hypothetical designs for Stella, originally shown off in the Hatching a Universe book released in 2013. According to the aforementioned book, Stella was modeled after the galah as well as several other inspirations including Japanese cosplay, The Powerpuff Girls, and the American singer Gwen Stefani.

Eventually, Rovio settled on using #8 as the basis for Stella's final design.

Madagascar Collab Background#

A background concept created by Les Spink, intended for a collaboration with Dreamworks Animation's Madagascar franchise to tie in with the release of the third movie, of which was later reworked into the Piglantis episode. There is data left over for this collab in version 2.4.0.

The background appears to be based on Port De Monte Carlo, a location that the characters visit in the third movie.

Early Music#

To do:

  • There's more early songs to document here.

On Ari Pulkkinen's YouTube channel and Soundcloud pages, there are several early tracks for the game.

Season's Greedings Theme#

Early

Final

A couple instruments are missing in the early version, such as the chimes in the intro and the xylophone in second half of the song. The pigs' laughter in the second half is also not present in the early version either.

Go Green, Get Lucky Theme#

Early

Final

Accordion is noticeably louder compared to the final version and the xylophone isn't panned to the right.

Summer Pignic Theme#

First Early Version

Second Early Version

Final

Summer Pignic gets the honor of having not one, but two early versions of its theme! And they're both practically double the length of the final version.

The first version, of which was only uploaded to Soundcloud, is vastly different compared the final and even the other early version. Notably the song plays at a higher pitch and faster tempo, has the birds themselves singing along to the theme and overall has different instrumentation. The song strangely also has a snippet of the song that plays in Angry Birds Rio's cinematic trailer towards the end of the song.

The second version is more close to the final version, but notably has a different lead motif. The singing birds from the previous iteration also managed to sneak their way into this version towards the end of the song.
