Yo-kai Watch (Nintendo 3DS)

Opening Files#

To extract from yw1_a.fa, Kuriimu v1.0.15 is required, which comes with Karameru and Kukkii, and can be downloaded here. The method will NOT work with Kuriimu2.

Open yw1_a.fa with Karameru, which will give access to the files. Extract the folders ctr data fnt, seq and sky outside of the program to a New Folder in order to use other programs to extract those files.
in data contains textures for locations, and characters. they can be opened via Kukkii, where right-clicking on .xi files and selecting Edit in Kukkii.

Audio#

Audio is stored in snd/product/stream, and are in a dspadpcm.bcstm format. They can be played and extracted to .ogg via foobar2000 with the vgmstream plugin.

Models#

Models are stored in .xc files. To view models, you will need Metanoia to view and export the models via the second eye button.

Alternatively, they can be exported .dae format, which can be downloaded here, and any version of Blender to import .dae files (without any required plugins). Below is a list of steps on how to properly render models in that program;

Remove the cube by right-clicking the object in Scene Collection and clicking Delete.
Import the .dae Model to Blender
On the toolbar found under "Scene", set the mode to Solid Mode by clicking on the second sphere (from the left), set the lighting to flat, color to texture, and untick outline *and specular lighting.
Click on Editor Type (the button above Render Properties, at the top), click on Base Color and set to Image Texture. On the dropdown bar saying "Linear", click on "Closest" to avoid textures looking blurry.
Click on the gridview from under the camera icon in the circle buttons, to get the view exactly right. To switch sides, click on the axis buttons.
To take an image of the render, you'll need to make it transparent so click on Render Properties (the camera icon), scroll to Film and click Transparent. Also you'll need to set Color Managament (In render properties) to Standard than Filmic.
To remove the gridview, click on Viewpoint Overlays (which is the button next to the two circles) from the same toolbar as the Material Properties
Click on View.../Viewpoint Render Image, found under View on the top-left part of the program.
In the render window, click on Image-Save As and the render is taken.

B: Battle BG
D: Dungeon Maps (Ex: Alleys, usually maps with yo kai in them)
G: Big maps (Ex: Cities)
