Dreamcast Build#
To obtain a playable GDI of the Dreamcast build, follow these steps:
- Extract and decrypt TETRIS.BIN from the NAOMI GD-ROM using GD-ROM Explorer or another similar tool.
- To convert a CHD to a GDI, obtain a copy of chdman from MAME, then run
chdman extractcd -i gdl-0020.chd -o gdl-0020.gdi. - In GD-ROM Explorer, you can do this by right clicking the file, and clicking on the "Decrypt and Extract" option.
- When asked for a DES key, use 62790B91859854C7.
- To convert a CHD to a GDI, obtain a copy of chdman from MAME, then run
- With the decrypted binary, trim off the first 0x500 bytes (these belong to the NAOMI header).
- Those with GNU coreutils available (e.g., from MSYS2) can just run something like
tail -c+1281 TETRIS_DEC.BIN > track03.bin.
- Those with GNU coreutils available (e.g., from MSYS2) can just run something like
- Make a copy of the NAOMI GDI and its first two tracks. These will be used as the base for the new Dreamcast GDI.
- It will be assumed this is called
disc.gdi.
- It will be assumed this is called
- Inside the newly copied GDI, make the line belonging to track 3 use 2048 sectors instead of 2352, and to use the file name of the track 3 you just obtained from the trimmed binary.
- Now, we need to convert track 3 to use 2352 sectors instead of 2048. Obtain the command line version of Sappharad's GDIBuilder utility.
- With buildgdi in the same folder as the new GDI, run
buildgdi -extract -ip . -output data -gdi disc.gdi. - After the GDI has been extracted, run
buildgdi -ip IP.BIN -data data -output . -gdi disc.gdito replace track 3 with a newly created one that uses 2352 sectors. - Done! This GDI should run in Flycast and DEmul, however I have not yet heard test results on real hardware.
