C0A7 functions#
When C0A7 is written to, it affects which menu/interface the player is in game.
- 00: Nothing/hang
- 01: Start up sequence
- 02: Overworld
- 03: Overworld menu (can vary)
- 04: Initiates a battle (typically with the placeholder -------- monster if no other monster is read)
- 05: Attempts to evolve a monster
- 06: Can press B, then A to load the game house slot machine minigame
- 07: New game sequence. If forced on the overworld an unusual player sprite can be seen in place of the star, resembling the player 'squished' in a seemingly round (male player) or square shape (female player) but this may be a technicality from the game still arranging/flipping the tiles as if they were the star.
- 08: If forced on overworld a fragmented version of the player sprite assembles. If unlocked, pressing any button returns the game to normal. If locked, screen may fade to white and crisis music may play and the game will try to return to the overworld again.
- 09: Loads the area map
- 0A: Loads the sound test (the same one from the Portable MD item), but doesn't update the graphics until the player exits with B, B and keeps the value locked.
- 0B: Loads a conversation (possibly with the incorrect sprite)
- 0C: Nurse Kitty's rest house
- 0D: Hello Kitty's shop
- 0E: Game settings menu (if forced pressing A may freeze the game, possibly due to changing an out of bounds setting. Pressing B loads it correctly).
- 0F: (Monster) nickname input screen
- 10: Toki no Roujin's advice
- 11: The game house's Bike Race minigame (best used on boot up, but can be forced elsewhere for interesting behavior)
- 12: (Varies): From boot-up or overworld - Time Ladder warp. Can warp the player to an unidentified cave room with a chest containing Skill Pack 45, and no way out as the hole is inaccessible/is it unused? From battle - Forces end game sequence and staff credits without updating the music.
- 13+ : Garbage?
