Playing the unused prototype level#
The unused, very springy level can be restored with a little hacking. We'll swap Ronald 1 out for this level. Make the following changes to the prototype ROM. All offsets include the iNES header.

Explanation of Music Tracks#
Despite the sound engine being hard-coded to play a single music track, there are actually three music tracks in the prototype. Their header information is stored in a table at 1A5B0. Each track has four instrument headers, and each instrument header is four bytes wide, consisting of the low and high addresses of the track data, and two bytes of instrument initialization.
The engine has hard-coded offsets into this table at 1A018, 1A01F, 1A026, and 1A02D. They initially point to the first four instrument headers described above, using indexes 00, 01, 02, and 03, and so play the BGM3 theme. They can be modified by adding four to each index value to reach the next set of four instrument headers and play the overworld map theme, or by adding eight to each value to play the end-of-game fanfare.
