Cheat Code Format#
Cheat codes are stored in the following format (all data types are in little endian):
For each screen/mode with cheat codes, there is an array containing the following structure for each cheat code:
- 16-bit pointer to jump to upon activating this code
- 16-bit pointer to input list for this code
Separate arrays are stored containing the following structure for each cheat code:
- List of inputs to check (raw 16-bit controller report values), terminated by a $0000 word
The final Select input is not part of the input data, but rather a signal to check user inputs against each code for a given screen/mode.
The player's input list is stored at $7E1AFB, with an index variable at $7E1AF9.
Example: Hidden Games (ABXYUD)
$DEB9[0] = { $DFD3, $DED9 } = jump to $DFD3 on activation, use input list at $DED9
$DED9 = { $0080, $8000, $0040, $4000, $0800, $0400, $0000 } = { A, B, X, Y, Up, Down, terminator }
