This page contains notes for the game Cookie Run.
Decrypting .dxj files#
This is a guide to decrypt the .dxj files from Cookie Run for Kakao 1.0 to Cookie Run for Kakao 4.21. OvenBreak 2 also uses the same encryption method.
Step 1: Obtain your .dxj file.
In OvenBreak 2, they are stored in the "default" folder, and in Kakao, they are stored in the k "kakao_BalanceData" and "localization_text" folders. 3.0 onward has the actual text stored in the latter folder and the one in BalanceData is just code pointers, but 2.0 and under should have everything in the BalanceData folder.
Step 2: Convert from Base64.
Go to https://www.base64decode.org/ for this next step. Upload your desired .dxj file into the upload bar. If you get an error saying it's not in Base64, the file may use a different encryption or it may not be encrypted at all.
Do not copy and paste the text from the .dxj. It will ruin the formatting and the decryption will not work as expected.
Once your operation is a success, download it. You may notice it's a .bin file now, but don't worry about it.
Step 3: Decrypt.
Download quickbms from here: http://aluigi.altervista.org/quickbms.htm
Create a .txt file with this inside, and name it whatever:
Get TEMPNAME basename
String TEMPNAME + "_decoded.txt"
Get SIZE asize
Filexor "dev!Wkwkdwhgdk!sisters@#$"
Log TEMPNAME 0 SIZE
Now, unzip and open quickbms. Explorer will open. Select the script you saved first, then the decrypted Base64 file, and lastly the folder it gets stored. It should complete without error and you will have the decrypted file. If your file explorer refuses to view your file as text unless it's a .txt, change it's extension to txt. And that's it, it should now be readable.
Versions 1.0 to 1.05 of LINE Cookie run use .dxj text as well.
Decrypting .djb files#
This is a guide to decrypt the .djb files from Cookie Run for Kakao 4.22 to 10.02, or LINE Cookie Run from 2.0, to 6.0.4.
Step 1: Obtain your .djb file.
The .djb file is stored in the "kakaoBalance_Data" folder, or "lineBalance_Data" in LINE versions of the game.
Step 2: Download CookieRunDJBF.
This tool can be found here, though it only works for Windows. If one places all of the .djb files desired to be decoded in the same folder as the .exe, all of them will de decrpyted and placed in a new subfolder titled "dump".
Note that versions following 5.36 use a form of text compression that makes a variety of unicode characters turned into other characters or spaces.
