To do:
This page contains a lot of information however, it is not a complete article. Files that are left out are either more unknown or fit better for the main page.

Filesystem Documentation#

This section documents how the files are organized. You can view the files using Tinke. Most of the files are .db files and are used for various purposes in the game. Other DS games developed by Black Lantern Studios use a similar filesystem format.

BBG.sdat#

Stores sound data like sound effects and music. (excluding voice clips.)

Files starting with "BuildCar"#

Any files that start with "BuildCar" like "BuildCarPart1.db" are sections of the minigame where you help build a car.

Files starting with "CS"#

"CS" in this context stands for cutscenes so they're the data for the cutscenes.

Files starting with "Driving"#

Any files that start with Driving are files for the race tracks found in the game.

  1. There are 3 sections that make up each track
    • The one left blank. (Driving_BigRace_City.db)
    • AutoCollision (Driving_BigRace_City_AutoCollision.db)
    • AutoObjects (Driving_BigRace_City_AutoObjects.db)
  2. and there are 7 separate track files.
    • BigRace_City
    • BigRace_Farm
    • BigRace_RC
    • City
    • ExtraRace_1
    • ExtraRace_2
    • Farm

localizedtext.bin#

Self explanatory, stores the text used for the game.

megaspeex.spx#

megaspeex.spx is the file that contains all the voice clips used in game. This file contains unused voice clips, some not documented so it's worth digging into. If you go in the hexadecimal of this file, you can see that speex-1.2beta3 is the version of the audio codec that is used.

Files starting with "Menu"#

These are the files that make up the menu of the game. RootMenu.db, PauseMenu.db, and QuitConfirm.db are exceptions.

Files starting with "mg"#

Just like "cs", "mg" is an abbreviation that stands for something and it stands for minigames since it contains data for minigames used in the game except the building car one.

Files starting with "Splash"#

Splash(number).db files are the splash screens that display the copyright info at the start of the game.
