Unused Hard Path Themes#
Hard path themes were composed for nearly every level type, including those that never ended up with hard paths in the final game! Mancell's comments seem to indicate that he was given no other directive from Naughty Dog besides which levels to create hard themes for, not mentioning the ones which wouldn't need a theme:
“I'm not sure if [these levels were] ever completed; that would be a Naughty Dog question. All I know is that I made "danger" variations of all the levels... including underwater, jet ski, etc.” 1
“[So there never was a skull route theme for the medieval levels?] correct... it would have sounded very much like the Mad Bombers one but without the wind sfx” 2

Interestingly, the underwater level "Deep Trouble" did end up with a hard path in the final game, while the other three level types all have a presence in the secret warp room through "Ski Crazed", "Area 51?", and "Rings of Power".
Demo Music#
During the game's development, Mancell would create demonstration tracks in order to narrow down the sort of feel and theming Naughty Dog wanted for the music in the game. Some of these tracks have been released on Mancell's SoundCloud page and other websites.
