One of the original French game companies, Loriciels was founded in 1983 by Marc Bayle and Laurant Weill, and quickly established itself as a prominent developer and publisher for various computers and systems. Their name is a combination of "logiciel" (software) and "Oric" (Oric). They would later rename themselves to "Loriciel" in 1989.
