NASCAR '14

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This page details bugs of NASCAR '14.

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically:

  • These are my findings alone on the PlayStation 3 1.0.3 patch, so if I could have some also corroborate my findings that'd be greatly appreciated.
  • Find references and proof.

This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
Notes: Many of these bugs are completely random and are difficult to reproduce / find footage of.

This page or section needs more videos.
There's a whole lotta words or pictures here, but not enough videos. Please fix this.

What the Eutechnyx saga of NASCAR gaming is notorious for.

The infamous 'wall-pop' shall not be mentioned, mainly due to every track having one.

The most stable part of the game.

Selected layer disappearing in the paint booth#

When a custom paint scheme has too many layers, the selected layer has a small chance of disappearing. The layer reappears when another layer is selected or a new layer is created and placed.

In-Race#

Preface#

A lot of these bugs, both in race and possibly in the replay mode, have to do with the Rewind feature. This feature allows the player to, get this, rewind the game up to about 10 seconds. This single feature is the possible culprit of many, many bugs that are and aren't listed here.

Spotter & Crew Chief disappearing#

When in a race, rewinding too much can cause the spotter to suddenly become silent, not coming back unless the game is entirely restarted. Along with the spotter's silence, Ray Evernham, Mike Joy and Darrell Waltrip's pre-race commentary, and even the pitcrew pitting the car on pitroad will silence themselves.

Rewind Softlock#

When rewinding, there is an incredibly rare chance that the game can softlock on the loading screen before said rewind starts.

Replay Mode#

The most unstable part of the game.

Replay Freeze#

When a replay is being recorded to the system, drivers can randomly jump or freeze which saves to the actual video of the replay itself.

Phantom DNF#

To do:
Replace this video with a better demonstration. The video here doesn't showcase this very well.

In a replay, a driver can appear with a blown motor without the driver even crashing in the race.

Slip & Slide Replay bug#

To do:
Add a (proper) demonstration of this.

When using the replay mode, an exceedingly rare chance of the replay mode softlocking the player and causing drivers to slip around on the track, possibly caused by using the rewind system far too much inside of a race.
