This page details bugs of LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge (Windows).
Frame Rate Related Issues#
The game seems to have been designed to run at a maximum of 30 frames per second, and the inside of Pepper's house is even capped to this. Going above 30 FPS will start to cause things to not function correctly. Some minigames will become harder to control as the frame rate increases, while others will stop working entirely.
- The camera rotation is fully tied to the frame rate, so the higher it is, the faster the camera will spin around Pepper.
- Pepper's running animation will rapidly shake from side to side at random while on any of the islands. This begins happening at 34 FPS and higher.
- Board Park will eventually become unplayable if the frame rate gets too high.
- During Desert Speedster, the Island Racer's steering will be much less responsive as the frame rate increases. If the frame rate gets high enough, the minigame will eventually become unplayable, as the car will get stuck going forwards and backwards when the key for acceleration is pressed.
- During Bi-Plane, the fuel will run out much faster than it should, and the bi-plane will become more uncontrollable as the frame rate increases.
- When at the top of The Brickster's Palace, Pepper and the Brickster-Bots' movement will increase with the frame rate, and thrown pizzas disappear very quickly.
- The scorpions on Adventurers Island, and the Slimy Slugs on OGEL Island, will move much faster as the frame rate increases.
- Any animations that play in the background during the instruction menus for the minigames will play faster, but will go back to normal once the minigame starts.
- Animated icons in the heads up display will play faster as the frame rate increases.
The only positive aspect of the frame rate going beyond 30 FPS, is the loading times will be reduced. For example, at 60 FPS, the loading times are exactly halved.
Minigame Bugs#
- During Whack-A-Bot, the cartoony bonk and laugh sound that plays when you hit a Brickster-Bot is barely audible in-game, despite the audio file itself being loud.
- The skybox in Desert Speedster does not go as far down as it should, showing the sun as an oval in the sky and blue fog in the distance that should be yellow.
- During Fishing, Pepper can get stuck in a frozen standing pose when you leave a fishing spot, causing him to slide along the ground in this pose when you move.
- The sun texture in the sky will become dark grey if the minigame is restarted. It will only go back to normal by reloading the save.
