A few minor bugs and issues that were present in the American version were fixed in the Japanese and European releases:

  • If you throw Kiddy against a Steel Keg or a Koin, then jump into a body of water and switch Kongs underwater, Kiddy will warp to the top of the screen.
  • In Criss Kross Cliffs, there are much fewer red Buzzes than in other versions. This renders some Switch Barrels unnecessary as the red Buzzes aren't there to block the Steel Kegs. There is also no Bazuka at the beginning.
  • Pot Hole Panic has considerable lag issues near the end, which were fixed in the European/Japanese versions by some layout rearranging. The letter "G" of "KONG" and the last Bounty Bird were moved back, the banana bunch was removed, and the Kuchuka near the end was replaced by a Buzz.
  • Belcha has an odd bug where his teeth can be separated from his main body, resulting in the boss fight glitching up completely and becoming unwinnable.
  • In Ripsaw Rage, an auto-firing barrel located directly above the letter "G" of "KONG" does not rotate back after firing.
  • In Rocket Rush, it is possible to fall through the platform that the final rocket lands on. This gives the player the ability to explore a portion of the course; by tossing Kiddy against a wall, he will roll around. Then, have Dixie run on top of the rolling Kiddy. With enough tries, they will phase through the platform. (Do not attempt without completing the level at least once. Otherwise, the game will have to be reset.)
  • In Krevice Kreepers, there is a red balloon that is difficult if not impossible to get in the American version since it disappears if you go off-screen to ascend the horizontal ropes to the left. Other versions fixed this by moving the red balloon up (and hid it behind a newly-placed banana).
  • In Blazing Bazukas, Squitter's webs cannot trigger the Switch Barrels that affect Bazuka's ammo.
  • In Japanese version 1.1 only, you can skip the boss fight against Bleak by dying and pausing just before the screen fades out to exit the level, which will cause the game to consider the boss beaten.
  • Japanese version 1.1 correctly gives Kiddy his alternate colors on bonus screens in 2 Player Contest mode or if the COLOR code is enabled. In all other versions, these screens only properly change Dixie's palette.
  • The American version had a bug where a waterfall graphic was missing in the chase ending near Cotton-Top Cove.

Strangely, the US version of Rocket Rush does not have the "G" included among the collectable "KONG" letters. This was fixed in all other versions, including the Game Boy Advance re-release, but it is in a different location, since this version appears to use the American version as a base (which is evidenced by all the other level layout changes).
